In the former Soviet Union several car manufacturers produced models of their vehicles in their own factories. The GAZ car plant in Nizhny Novgorod released at least three different diecast models. The first of these models, a 1/50th scale GAZ 24 Volga, was released around 1970. The other two models date from the 1980s: A GAZ 14 Chaika state limousine and a GAZ 3102 Volga. Both model cars are in 1/43rd scale and are rather simple, but very heavy and solid. Especially the GAZ 3102 model has become very rare. It was only made for a short time and was soon eclipsed by the more detailed 1/43rd scale model of the same car made by Radon. Furthermore, GAZ produced friction-powered plastic models of both generations of the Chaika limousine (GAZ 13 and 14) in 1/31st scale, as well as a 1/18th scale 3102 Volga in a similar finish.
