Ichiko was a small Japanese tinplate toy maker. The company was founded in Tokyo in the 1950s and produced a range of quality tinplate vehicle models, focusing on American cars and emergency vehicles. The models are friction-powered or battery operated and often feature special functions such as moving roof lights on police cars and ambulances or even working speedometers; yet they are realistic reproductions of the original cars. Production of Ichiko tinplate models ceased in the 1970s.
