In the 1970s plastic copies of Italian Politoys and French Norev models in 1/43rd scale were made in Czechoslovakia by the company KDN (Kovodruzstvo Nachod). These models were marketed under the name of "Miniauto". Several models of Czech Skoda and Tatra cars in the same scale were added to the range later. In addition to the 1/43rd scale models, KDN also produced big scale plastic models of Skoda cars and vans, tinplate truck models and copies of plastic toy cars made by Dux from Germany. After the end of the communist reign in 1989, two new brands evolved from KDN: Kaden for diecast and plastic models, Kovap for tinplate toys.
