The Kleinbahn company was founded by Erich Klein in Vienna in 1947 and manufactured inexpensive, but sturdy model railways mainly for the Austrian market. In addition to locomotives, passenger and freight wagons, accessories such as buildings, bridges and overhead contact lines were also produced. Furthermore, the range included 1/87th scale plastic models of road vehicles, namely a Steyr lorry from the 1970s in various liveries and colour schemes, and a Mercedes-Benz saloon car. In the late 1980s, the Kleinbahn truck models served as base for models made by the German company Schimmer. Kleinbahn closed down in 2021.
