LOMO is a manufacturer of optical instruments founded in St. Petersburg in 1914. The company primarily produces microscopes and telescopes, but also cameras such as the famous LC-A Compact Automat camera introduced in 1983. In the late 1980s LOMO also started manufacturing 1/43rd scale diecast models: ZIS and GAZ trucks from the 1930s have been modelled as fire engines and in civilian and military versions. The GAZ models are made from castings originally issued by Dvigatel, a former model car manufacturer also based in St. Petersburg.
