Maxwell from Calcutta, India, started producing diecast model cars in various scales in 1968. Their range included 1/43rd scale models of two popular Indian cars, the Hindustan Ambassador and the Premier President, as well as cars in about 1/64th scale and truck and bus models in smaller scales inspired by the British Matchbox models from the 1960s, but with much poorer quality and finish.
