Permot was founded by Gerhard Hruska in Glashütte (Saxony, East Germany) in 1949 and started manufacturing model railways and model railroad accessory. Later musical boxes and model plane engines were added to the range. In the late 1960s Permot had to cease production of model railways and concentrated on 1/87th scale models of commercial vehicles. Among other models, a Skoda truck was released in many different liveries. The company was completely nationalized by the GDR in 1972 and became the state combine Prefo Betriebsteil 3. In the course of the German reunification, Gerhard Hruska regained control over the company in 1990. The range of model vehicles was extended, and Permot is now maintained as a family business in the third generation.
