Plasto is a Finnish manufacturer of plastic toys and packages. The factory was founded in 1954 and is located in the Åland islands. The current range of toy vehicles consists of generic cars and trucks in sturdy quality, but in the 1970s the company made a range of 1/43rd scale soft plastic models similar to the Norwegian Tomte models: VW Beetle, Mini, Citroën 2 CV and CX, Saab 99 Combi Coupé, Volvo 244, Range Rover. The Range Rover was also available in 1/32nd scale, as well as some other cars (VW Golf and Pick-up, Ford Escort, Porsche 911, Jeep). In the 1960s, Plasto had already released a 1/25th scale hard plastic model of a VW Beetle.
