The Brazilian company REI manufactured re-editions of former Schuco model cars from Germany in 1/43rd and 1/66th scale and model buses in 1/60th scale in Manaus from 1978 until the mid-1980s. The 1/43rd scale models were partly also sold in kit form, and they were also available as ready-made models in special pace car, rally, police or taxi liveries. Besides the Schuco models, REI also made re-editions of Siku products, an own series of truck models, and car models with pull-back action, some of them originally released by Shinsei, but also some from the company's own moulds (e.g., Ford Corcel II). The 1/66th scale Schuco model of the VW Polo was sold by REI as a VW Gol, although the bodies of the German VW Polo and the Brazilian VW Gol were quite different.
