Roco is an Austrian manufacturer specialized in model railways and accessories. The company was founded by Heinz and Elfriede Rössler in Salzburg in 1960. They first produced plastic models of military vehicles, but soon diversified into model railways in various scales. A range of detailed 1/87th scale civilian cars and trucks was introduced in 1980, partly based on the already existing military vehicles. Production of this range stopped in 2001, when the company again concentrated on model railways and military models, but after Roco had gone into liquidation and changed ownership in 2005, some of the models were issued again by the new owner Modelleisenbahn GmbH. In the 1960s Roco had also released several plastic car models in 1/45th and 1/66th scale which were also sold under the Peetzy brand name.
