This is the model of the oldest original vehicle in my collection. The Belgian missionary Ferdinand Verbiest designed this prototype in China in 1681. Steam escaping from the kettle was led to a turbine which was connected with the wheels. The model is 10 centimetres long and was released by Brumm in their range of steam-powered vehicles in 1/43rd scale. However, as Verbiest himself only built a model of this vehicle, the scale indicated by Brumm must be much too small.
