The first steam-powered vehicle tested on the road was the steam tractor constructed by Nicolas Cugnot in France in 1769. The vehicle was built for the French artillery. It reached 3.6 km/h, but it was difficult to handle and soon crashed into a wall. The model is made by Brumm, too.
