Iceland

Model cars related to Iceland are very rare. There are several promotional models for Icelandic companies, e.g. already in the 1960s Tekno from Denmark manufactured two van models in the livery of Roði, a shop in Reykjavík. Around 1960 as well, Reykjalundur released 1/87th scale trucks based on Lego models. Frímerkjasalan, the Icelandic philatelic bureau, started selling limited edition models of post office vehicles in 2003, based on Lledo models from England in 1/64th scale. The first two models are a post coach from the 1930s and a current parcel van. Each model comes with a postcard showing a picture of the original car. A 1950s Bedford post van was added to the range in summer 2005, an old Mack platform lorry in 2006, a Land Rover (in 1/43rd scale) in 2007, a 1950 Bedford post coach (in 1/76th scale, based on a Corgi casting) in 2008, and a VW T1 Transporter (in 1/50th scale) in 2010. A modern DAF truck in 1/87th scale, made by the Dutch company WSI Models, was released in the same series in 2013. A 1/43rd scale model of a current Icelandic police car also exists: It was manufactured in China by Hongwell Cararama and was released by the Italian publishing house Fabbri in a partwork in January 2005.
