NZG was founded by Gerhard Schmid and Betty Hauer in Nuremberg in 1968. The company is specialized in diecast models of construction vehicles, mostly in 1/50th scale, partly also in 1/25th and 1/87th scale. The range also includes 1/43rd scale models of trucks and delivery vans, and in 1979 NZG started producing promotional models for Mercedes-Benz in 1/35th scale. Another very popular series released by NZG consisted of Porsche models in 1/43rd scale. This series was introduced in 1984, and until the early 1990s NZG modelled almost every contemporary road car made by the German sports car make. The models are well detailed by the standards of their time, they feature opening doors, bonnets and boots and are painted in original colour shades. Later NZG concentrated on models of commercial vehicles and was a partner company of the manufacturer Premium ClassiXXs in the 2000s and early 2010s. Since 2017, 1/18th scale diecast models have also been part of the range, including some passenger cars such as VW T6 and Mercedes-Benz EQC.
