High quality model cars are produced in China under the brand name of Autoart. The first Autoart models in 1/18th scale were made in 1999, later diecast models in 1/12th, 1/43rd and 1/64th scale, as well as slotcars and RC cars in 1/24th and 1/32nd scale, were also introduced. The range mainly consists of current and classic sports cars, off-road vehicles and rallye cars. Furthermore, the Biante company has released Autoart models of Australian cars especially made for the Australian market. The first owner of Autoart, the British-American company Gateway, originally also produced a range of cheaper models which was marketed under the name of Gate. In the 2010s, Autoart started producing 1/18th scale models with plastic bodies and diecast chassis, instead of the usual opposite construction, to allow for more accurate body details.
