The Australian company Classic Carlectables started producing 1/43rd scale models of Australian touring cars in the mid-1990s. Although the decoration of the first models was very accurate, they were quite simple, e.g. there was no interior detail. But soon much better detailed models up to the usual standards for collectible scale model cars were introduced. Road cars were also added to the range, namely contemporary and classic pickups (Australian denomination: "Ute") made by Holden and Ford, and Classic Carlectables diversified into 1/18th, 1/24th and 1/64th scales. The models are manufactured in China.
