The Malaysian company Daisheng was founded in Kuala Lumpur in 1982 and grew into a well established importer and exporter of all kinds of toys, in cooperation with the Tai Sing company from Singapore. In 2001, Daisheng opened the first store of the "Toycity" chain. The outlets sell a variety of toys, including a wide range of model cars. Models of Malaysian national cars are exclusively manufactured for Daisheng in China: The 2001 Proton Waja, the first car entirely designed in Malaysia, is available as a 1/32nd scale diecast model in various colours and in police livery. The models of the Daihatsu-based Perodua Myvi and Perodua Kelisa are about the same scale. All models feature opening doors and pull-back action.
