Since the 1970s, the Tehran based company Mamaghanian Toys has manufactured plastic toys and has become one of the biggest toy companies in Iran. Its products are marketed under the brand name of Dorj Toy. Besides toy guns and dollhouse equipment, Dorj Toy offers a wide range of plastic toy cars in various big scales (length of a model between 18 and 50 cms). The range includes classic Fords and Cadillacs as well as European sports cars, contemporary Japanese cars and some commercial vehicles, but also models of Iranian-built cars such as IKCO Samand, Peugeot 405, Saipa Saba (Iranian version of the Kia Pride), Renault Tondar 90 (Iranian version of the Dacia Logan) as well as Citroën Dyane, which was also built under licence by Saipa in Iran in the 1970s. Each of these cars is available in different liveries, e.g. in a road or racing version, as a taxi or a police car. While most of these models are friction-powered, some of them are also available with wireless remote control.
