The first Israeli diecast cars in about 1/43rd scale were made in a kibbutz named Kfar Hanassi from 1962 onwards and were marketed under the Gamda name. Kfar Hanassi received discarded moulds from the British brand River Series. The range included British cars (Ford Prefect, Standard Vanguard), some of which were also available as Israeli emergency vehicles, a Leyland bus in the Israeli versions "Egged" and "El Al", several civilian trucks, Willys Jeep and Station Wagon in military and civilian versions, as well as other military vehicles. After a few years, Gamda was taken over by the Israeli corporate group Koor, which was owned by Histadrut, the Israeli trade union. From 1966 to 1975, the new company called Gamda Koor produced a new series of mostly American cars, which were marketed under the Sabra name and distributed in the USA by the Cragstan company.
