Konami is a Japanese manufacturer and publisher of slot machines, computer and video games, trading cards and other entertainment products. The company was founded in Osaka in 1969 as a juke box rental and repair business, but entered the video game business in 1978 and is now headquartered in Tokyo. In 2004, Konami released a series of 1/64th scale diecast models of Japanese cars from the 1960s to the 1980s. The models are well detailed, in the style of models by Kyosho in the same scale and the "Limited" series by Tomica. They were sold as "Gashapon" models, i.e. boxed in a way that the purchaser was unable to determine the content and had to trade with other collectors in order to get a particular model or the complete collection.
