Lemezárugyár (Hungarian for "a factory producing goods of metal plates") is usually indicated as the manufacturer's name on tin toys made in Hungary fron the 1950s to the 1980s. The state-owned enterprise started production in Budapest in 1953, and in the following decades a wide range of tinplate and plastic toy cars was released. Besides some fantasy cars, a big scale Jaguar E tin model was available, as well as popular cars from Eastern (Trabant, Skoda 105, Lada 2106) and Western Europe (VW Beetle and Bus, Mercedes-Benz, Ford Taunus, Opel Rekord Caravan, BMW 700, Fiat 600) in about 1/30th scale, a 1/40th scale Rába truck in various versions and a 1/64th scale Ikarus bus. Besides "Lemezárugyár", several alternative inscriptions can be found on the baseplates and boxes of these toys, e.g. "Elzett", "E-Flim" or "Foreign". The tin toy factory was closed in the late 1990s.
