The Italian company M4 was named after the first names of its founder Marco Grassini and his family (Mariella, Michele, and Manuela). It produced the Best Model, Art Model and, from 2004, Rio ranges and launched a new collection of 1/43rd scale diecast models under its own name in June 2007, concentrating on classic Alfa Romeo cars. The models of this series were made in China and were partly based on models made by Metro and previously released in partwork series available at Italian newsagents’, but the level of detail and the finish had been improved. They were released in limited editions of 1000 to 2000 items per version. After a few years, M4 concentrated again on the model series manufactured in Italy. Business operations were discontinued at the beginning of 2026.
