Valerio Barnini, an Italian model maker from the region of Florence, started producing handbuilt resin models in 1/43rd scale in 1985. He specialized in the reproduction of Italian sports and racing cars from the 1960s and 1970s, notably by Abarth and Alfa Romeo. The models were sold in kit form, but some assembled editions were also available. In the early 2000s, he launched a range of rather low-cost ready-made models under the name of RS Models, in which about 20 different issues were released. After Barnini had retired, Denis Carrara took over much of the material and launched his own brand called CarPin Models in 2005.
