Diecast metal kits of classic American cars from the 1920s and 1930s (Ford Model A, Chevrolet, Duesenberg) in 1/18th, 1/20th and 1/24th scale were introduced by the American company Hubley around 1960. Hubley was a toy manufacturer from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, who had been founded in the 1890s and had already produced a wide range of cast iron, diecast and plastic toys. In 1965 the company was sold to Gabriel Industries, who continued the manufacture of the diecast kits. Scale Models from Dyersville, Iowa, a division of Ertl, acquired the rights to produce the models in the late 1980s. Production was discontinued in the late 1990s.
