SpecCast was founded in Rockford, Illinois, in 1974 for the purpose of producing seat buckles. The company soon diversified into other products such as lapel pins, key chains and statues, and moved to Dyersville, Iowa, in 1987, where design and production of diecast models was taken up. The range includes trucks and police cars in 1/64th scale, classic cars, pick-ups and vans in 1/25th scale and several trucks and agricultural vehicles in other scales. The models are made in China. In addition to the diecast models, SpecCast also manufactures 1920s- and 1930s-style pressed steel toys and polyresin lawn and garden products.
