The company opened its first store in Kobe in 1933 and introduced the world's first canned coffee in 1969, a beverage that has become very popular in Japan. UCC regularly adds small model cars and motorbikes as a bonus to the coffee cans. As an examle, several racing cars from the Japanese Super GT series in 1/80th scale made by Ebbro were available in 2007. The "Yoshimura ism Premium" series from 2012 included 14 Japanese motorbikes by Honda, Suzuki and Kawasaki in 1/42nd scale. A series of eight Harley-Davidson motorbikes in 1/45th scale was released in the following year. Nissan and Mercedes-Benz sports cars in 1/64th scale have followed since 2015.
