The German companies Wittek and Zissmann manufactured 1/43rd scale diecast models under the names of R.W.-Modell and Ziss from 1962 until around 1978. Both companies were based in Lintorf near Düsseldorf and distributed their models together. While R.W.-Modell produced models of contemporary vehicles (Mercedes-Benz 600, Ford Transit, Hanomag light trucks) and several detailed classic cars, models of classic cars in a rather simple finish were released under the Ziss brand name. In the 1970s, the Ziss name was also used for models of contemporary Opel cars (Rekord saloon, Commodore coupé, Manta). In 1991, the model of the Opel Manta was re-issued by Model International (maker of the Praliné model range), and some Ziss models of classic Opel cars were still available as promotional models from Opel dealers until the 1990s.
