In 1804 Oliver Evans constructed this steam dredge - the world's first amphibious vehicle - for the Philadelphia Health Service. The weight was 15 tons, and the vehicle moved more elegantly on water than on land. It had no steering. The model was released in a series of steam vehicles by Brumm.
