Epoche Modellbau was a German manufacturer of small-scale plastic models based in Mannheim. The company was directed by Ernst Plattner and introduced a series of 1/120th scale models of cars and trucks from the GDR in 1997. Models in 1/87th scale were added to the range two years later. The range in this scale included different generations and variants of the Tempo Matador small van, the Tempo Hanseat three-wheeler, and the Mercedes-Benz Unimog U411. Furthermore, models of construction vehicles were also available. From 2007 onwards, Epoche also produced nostalgic wooden models in approximate 1/87th scale in the style of the miniatures made in the Ore Mountains region at the beginning of the 20th century. Ernst Plattner definitively gave up the production of model cars early in 2020, but continued to publish his magazine "Modellautoheft" featuring articles on the history of 1/87th scale model cars.
