Louis B. Surber, who had previously worked as a pattern maker for Minialuxe, founded his own company in Martignat, Ain Department, France in 1975 and produced 1/43rd scale diecast truck models under the LBS brand name. The range initially focused on contemporary Berliet trucks in various versions, and it was not until the 1980s that trucks from other makes (Renault, Mercedes-Benz, MAN, Volvo, Scania, Kenworth) were also reproduced. In 1986, Louis B. Surber took over Eligor, a model car manufacturer also based in Martignat whose products had already been manufactured at the same factory as the LBS models before on behalf of the previous owners. From 1989 to 1991, the company also produced the Max Models series on behalf of Danhausen of Germany and, from 1991 onwards, re-editions of Quiralu models. In 1996, Paul and Anne-Marie Vuillierme bought the company and abandoned the LBS brand name, integrating the truck models into the Eligor range.
