The Danhausen Company in Aachen, Germany, originally a dealer for motorbikes, bicycles and toys and worldwide known as manufacturer of the Minichamps diecast models since the 1990s, started distributing its own ranges of white metal handbuilt model cars under the names of Minichamps, Metal 43, SD Models and Plumbies already in 1974. Danhausen contracted with renowned manufacturers of handbuilt miniatures such as Tin Wizard from Germany, AMR (André-Marie Ruf) from France and Western Models from England as suppliers of the models. These models were mostly in 1/43rd scale and not only available factory-built, but also in kit form.
