In the 1970s and 1980s, the Japanese car make Mitsubishi released at least two different 1/25th scale diecast promotional models under its own name. They were exclusively available at Mitsubishi dealerships and have no indication of the manufacturer's name. The first of these models is a 1978 Mitsubishi Colt. The model features opening parts and realistic wheels with rubber tyres and was made by Diapet. It was later also added to the regular Diapet range in slightly altered versions. A model of the first Mitsubishi car, the 1917 A type, followed in 1985.
