The companies FRIHO and AFM-Modellbau, based in Lenk im Simmental in Bernese Oberland, produce and distribute vehicle models in various scales under the name of SMM (Schweizer Miniatur Modelle, i.e., Swiss miniature models). The models are handbuilt of resin or of etched nickel silver, or made by using 3D printing technology, and sometimes in composite design. The range focuses on historic off-road trucks as used by the Swiss Army. The first model, a Saurer 4CM/Berna 4UM in 1/87th scale, was introduced in 2014; a Saurer M6/M8 in 1/87th and 1/35th scale followed in 2015. All these models are highly detailed and exist in various versions. A trailer in 1/43rd and 1/50th scale, matching models of Swiss military trucks made by Tek-Hoby and Arwico, is also available. In addition to the SMM models, FRIHO also sells in-house made railway vehicles and accessories, as well as conversions of military and civilian vehicles in 1/87th scale, under its own name. AFM-Modellbau manufactures models of special military vehicles and accessories to order and offers kits in 1/35th, 1/43rd, 1/48th, 1/87th and other scales.
