In the beginning, Dinky Toys France produced the same models as Dinky Toys England, with only a few modifications. Soon before World War II the French company began to develop its own models. This was the beginning of a range with a lot of variety, the original vehicles being modelled mostly came from Continental Europe. The grey Ford Vedette was made from 1954 to 1956, later a taxi version of this model was released. Like most models from the 1950s, the Ford has no interior detail and no plastic windows. Later models are better detailed and are always exactly in 1/43rd scale. After the French production had ceased in 1973, the Spanish manufacturer Pilen continued to produce some of the models for several years.
