GMP (Georgia Marketing & Promotions) was founded by brothers Mark and Jeff Palmer in Winder, Georgia, in 1992. The company started out as a wholesale division of ACME Trading Company, but soon became a separate entity producing and distributing detailed Chinese-made diecast replicas of American racing cars. The first model was a 1992 Ford Taurus NASCAR race car driven by Bill Elliott in 1/24th scale. In the late 1990s, GMP expanded its product line and introduced a series of 1/18th scale models, including classic American muscle cars as well as other sports cars, racing cars, and dragsters. Several models in 1/12th and 1/43rd scale, as well as racing car transporters in 1/64th scale, car trailers, figurines, and accessories were also part of the range. GMP ceased production in 2011, but the parent company ACME Trading Company is still in business selling 1/18th scale model cars.
