Nepal

Nepal has got no industrial production of model cars, but artisans have manufactured miniatures of typical Nepali vehicles made of various materials. Brass models of the Bajaj autorickshaw are available in painted and unpainted versions. There are also wooden models of the autorickshaws and of Indian Tata trucks as used on Nepali roads. A distributor of such wooden models is Folk Nepal, a non-profit sharing NGO founded in Kathmandu in 2000, with the purpose to support skill building of needy craft artisans and to assist them in marketing their products internationally. Besides other products, Folk Nepal sells model of an autorickshaw in about 1/18th scale and truck models in various sizes. The wooden miniatures are painted in vivid colours, and although they are not exact reproductions, their prototypes are well recognizable.
