The Czechoslovak company Igra started producing model cars in the 1960s. These models were first made of bakelite, then of plastic. Among the plastic models, there were several contemporary Skoda and Tatra models in about 1/43rd scale, but the company soon became best known for a range of classic car models in 1/36th and 1/43rd scale, which was produced during the 1970s and 1980s. In the late 1980s, Igra introduced a range of detailed 1/87th scale models of Czech cars and trucks.
