Englishman John Day was a pioneer in manufacturing 1/43rd scale white metal models. Production started in Malvern, Worcestershire, in 1970. The range mainly consisted of classic sports and racing cars which were not available as models from contemporary diecast model manufacturers. The models were mainly sold in kit form, but some models were also available as factory built versions. John Day’s business was quite successful, but it expanded too quickly, and the company crashed in 1980 already. In the late 1990s John Day reappeared on the model car scene and introduced a new range of 1/76th scale white metal kits called "Vehicle Scenics". When he passed away in summer 2006, his family first maintained his business, but handed it over to Daryle Toney in 2010.
