Mike and Sue Richardson produced some of the first 1/43rd scale handbuilt white metal models under the name of Mikansue. The company was founded in Windsor, England, in 1973, and the models were usually sold in kit form. Their standard range comprised British cars from the 1940s to the 1960s, but they also made a range of other European cars ("Grand Tourisme"), American cars ("Americana"), and European racing cars ("Competition"). Production ceased in 1989. Furthermore, the couple owned a large Dinky Toys collection and wrote several books and many articles on that manufacturer and on other toy and model cars.
