Officina 942 is a brand introduced in 2019 by Società Editrice Il Cammello, a small publishing house from Torino specialized in books about motoring history. The range consists of 1/76th scale diecast models of Italian vehicles from the 1930s to 1950s made in the style of small toy cars from that era. The models are thus very simple and do not feature any interior detail (except open convertibles) or moving parts, even the wheels are cast on the chassis. However, proportions and engravings are realistic. Production is located in China. The brand name refers to the world's fair in Rome planned for 1942, which had to be cancelled due to World War II. The makers assume that if an Italian diecast toy car range had been presented at this event, the models would have looked similar to their new products. A second series with models in a similar finish, but made in Italy of resin in limited numbers, started in 2020.
