Rosso was a Japanese manufacturer of plastic model cars, founded by former collaborators of the well-known plastic kit producer Fujimi in the early 1990s. The company made highly detailed models of contemporary sports and racing cars (Nissan Skyline GT-R, Honda NSX, Mazda RX-7, Ferrari 512 TR, Ferrari 642 and 643 Formula 1 cars) in 1/43rd, 1/24th, 1/12th and 1/8th scale which featured opening doors and bonnets as well as white metal and photo-etched parts. The models were usually available as kits, the 1/43rd scale range also in built form. Production already ended after a short period, since a fire broke out in the factory and destroyed moulds and tools. The company never recovered from this incident and soon fell into bankruptcy. The 1/8th scale Ferrari 643, released only shortly before the fire, became an absolute rarety since much of the stock had apparently been destroyed; it later sold for very high prices on internet auctions.
