Dugu was founded by Bartolomeo Chiodo in Varallo Sesia, Northern Italy, in 1961. The company produced models of classic cars models in 1/43rd to 1/50th scale and introduced the ranges "Miniautotoys" and "Museo" in 1963. The models represented real cars at the Museo dell'Automobile Carlo Biscaretti di Ruffia in Turin, Italy. Miniautotoys are high-quality models in exact 1/43rd scale similar to Rio models, whereas Museo models are simplified, less expensive models. A third series called "Sispla" including some Fiat trucks and tractors was introduced in 1974, shortly before the company closed down.
