The history of Eagle's Race is linked with various other model car brands: Jouef, a well-established French manufacturer of model railroads and slotcars, started producing diecast model cars in 1/18th, 1/24th, and 1/43rd scale in 1990. The company closed down in 2001, but production of model cars had already ceased in 1996. However, this production was continued by another company called Universal Hobbies, and new models were added to the range. The models were marketed under various brand names, first Eagle's Race, then Eagle Collectibles, and finally the company name itself. In addition to 1/18th and 1/43rd scale models, Universal Hobbies also produced construction and agricultural vehicles in various scales, as well as the "Legend" series of 1/43rd scale model cars originally issued in a partwork by the publishing house Del Prado. Models made by Universal Hobbies could also be found in partworks released by other publishing houses.
