Francesco De Stasio from Naples started producing handbuilt 1/43rd scale white metal models under the name of FDS in 1973. Resin models in the same scale were also added to the range some years later. The models were usually sold in kit form. FDS reproduced a wide range of Formula 1 and other racing cars, as well as sports cars from the 1950s to the 1980s. More recently, Francesco De Stasio released detailed ready-made 1/43rd scale resin models of Alfa Romeo and Ferrari cars under the brand name of Alfa Model 43. His sons also entered the model car business: While Pasquale founded the company Top Model Collection in 1992, Giovanni introduced the Jolly Model brand in 1995.
