Idea3 was founded by Marco Bossi in Turin in 1973. The company originally made 1/43rd scale resin and white metal models of classic sports cars from the 1930s to the 1960s in small series. These were available ready-made and in kit form. In 1983, Idea3 introduced a range of 1/43rd scale diecast models, solely consisting of Ferrari sports cars from the 1950s and early 1960s. These models were produced by Old Cars in larger quantities on behalf of Idea3 and are rather simple, but most prototypes were attractive (410 SA Superfast, 250 GT SWB, Ingrid Bergman's 375 MM) and not available from other contemporary model car manufacturers. Idea3 ceased its activity already in 1986, but Old Cars added the models to their own range and continued production for some more years.
