Idea3 was founded by Marco Bossi in Turin in 1973. The company originally made 1/43rd scale resin models of classic sports cars in small series. These were available ready-made and in kit form. In 1983, Idea3 introduced a range of 1/43rd scale diecast models, solely consisting of Ferrari sports cars from the 1950s and early 1960s. These models, produced in larger quantities, are rather simple, but most prototypes were attractive (410 SA Superfast, 250 GT SWB, Ingrid Bergman's 375 MM) and not available from other contemporary model car manufacturers. Production already ceased in the late 1980s, but Old Cars took over the moulds and added the models to their own range for some more years.
