Kingstar, a company from South Korea, manufactured various 1/35th scale diecast models of contemporary cars built by domestic car makes (Hyundai, Kia, Daewoo, SsangYong) in the 1980s and early 1990s. The models feature opening doors and pull-back action. Similar models were also released by other Korean model car manufacturers such as Clover Toys and later CM Toys or Sseca. Some years before, Kingstar had also made some diecast models of foreign sports cars in 1/43rd and 1/64th scale. These models also featured movable parts. The larger models were of similar quality like contemporary Solido and Tomica Dandy models, whereas the smaller models resembled Matchbox or Majorette products.
