The French company Minialuxe was based in Oyonnax (Ain department) and started producing 1/43rd scale plastic model cars in 1954. There were two ranges, one range consisting of contemporary road cars, mostly from France, and later also a second range consisting of classic cars from the beginning of motoring history. Furthermore, Minialuxe released several 1/32nd scale model cars with friction drive in the 1950s, also made of plastic, and accessories such as petrol pumps, garages, traffic lights and figurines. The company closed down in 1978, but some of the Minialuxe moulds were later reused for diecast models by Eligor, and in 2012, the brand name was revived by Marc Faujanet, owner of the magazine Passion 43ème: His new company manufactures diecast models in the style of model cars from the 1960s and 1970s in limited numbers, first in 1/43rd scale, later in the "Miniabox" series also in 1/66th scale.
