The French company Eligor was founded by Jacques Greilsamer in Martignat, Ain Department, in 1976 and has since been manufacturing 1/43rd scale diecast models. In addition to models made of original moulds, mostly classic cars from the 1930s, the range soon also included re-editions of obsolete Norev and Minialuxe models. Furthermore, a 1/20th scale model of the Citroën 11 CV originally made by Champion was reissued in the 1980s. Development and distribution of the models were taken over by Hobbycar SA in Lausanne (Switzerland) in 1981. From 1986 to 1996, Eligor was owned by Louis B. Surber SA. This company was the maker of the LBS truck models and had already produced Eligor models on behalf of the previous owners before. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, it additionally manufactured the Max Models series and re-editions of Quiralu models. During this time, Eligor also introduced the Leader series of resin models. After another change of ownership, the LBS models were integrated into the Eligor range, and since then trucks in 1/43rd scale have been a central part of the programme. In addition, however, diecast models of cars continue to be produced. These have been manufactured in China since the 2000s, while production of the truck models has remained in France.
