Tony Bellm was the owner of a successful British pharmaceutical business, but also a racing car enthusiast and model car collector. He established the Bellini range of 1/20th scale kits and the Piccolino range of 1/76th scale handbuilt models. Both series were made of white metal and concentrated on classic racing cars. By the late 1980s, the Piccolino range consisted of more than 100 different models of Formula 1 cars, sports prototypes and land speed record breakers, as well as several light commercial vehicles, available ready-made and in kit form. The models were made in Guernsey in the Channel Islands and in Alton, Hampshire, Southern England. In the 1990s, Tony Bellm sold the business to RAE Models, a manufacturer of white metal models based in in the southern English county of Surrey.
