RAE Models was founded by Robert Allan Edney in Chertsey, Surrey, England in 1975 and originally made handbuilt model boats and aircrafts. Robert's son Keith, who joined his father's business soon after it had been established and has run it since 1992, more and more specialized into manufacturing white metal model cars. He made patterns for Tony Bellm's Piccolino range of 1/76th scale racing cars and took over production of these models in the 1990s. The RAE Models main range consisted of 1/43rd scale white metal models of classic British sports cars, mainly MGs and Jaguars. Around the year 2000, Keith Edney also introduced several highly detailed sports cars in 1/8th scale.
